This wallpaper pattern, with its laurel wreaths, is typical for the age around 1800. In the Napoleonic times, laurels were highly fashionable due to their symbolic significance as a symbol of victory or heroic deeds. At that time, it was also common to print wallpapers with a black shadow effect. Colours combined with black were fashionable between 1800 and 1810. This design is taken from a handmade original in Uppland.
