The early Art Nouveau period in the early 20th century was characterised by floral patterns that were faithful to nature, with gentle, undulating lines. Pattern designers were inspired by gardens and meadow flora. The tiny marguerite was one of the most popular flower motifs in the wallpapers of that time. The stalks here are arranged so that they form a cohesive pattern of lines on the wall.
