In around 1850, a wide range of historical styles were available that could be combined with one another in different ways. Rococo Revival influences were frequently used in areas such as drawing rooms and hallways. These patterns are characterised by large-scale medallion patterns. This wallpaper resembles a silk damask where the medallions are formed by knotty branches, a motif inspired directly by the Rococo era of the 18th century. The original wallpaper comes from a farm near Flottsund in Uppland.
